These wax tablet sets are based on a number of 15th and 16th century examples and the construction is base on studies of surviving leather cases in the V&A Museum. They are made from a number of different layers of leather which make a rigid case that protects the contents. They have a moulded slots for the stylus and the cords. The wooden wax tablets are hand made and the wax is bees wax coloured black with oak gall ink.
