Surviving troopers baldric in the Royal Armouries Museum Col. Thomas St. Aubryn 1640

17th Century Baldrics

The design for these baldrics comes from a number of 17th century illustrations and surviving examples - notably a cavalry troopers buff leather baldric that is in the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds.. They are made from heavy leather and are stitched and dyed by hand.

Infantry Baldric

Made from heavy vegetable tanned leather. All the seams are cross stitched and the ends of the straps are scalloped.

Buckled Baldric

Made from heavy vegeteble tanned leather, this baldric has a brass buckle and a leather keeper.

Buff Leather Buckled Baldric

This baldric is made from heavy oil tanned buff leather and has an embroided design done using a decorative butt stitch which pulls the leather up into a raised ridge. The embroidery design is taken from a surviving waist belt hanger in the Royal Armouries Meuseum in Leeds. It has a brass buckle, keeper and strap end.
