15th/16th century narrow belt bag with piped seams and tooling

15th/16th century narrow belt bag with piped seams and tooling
This belt bag is made from oak gall black goat and calf skin with tan piping and is stitched by hand. The design for this bag comes from 'The Seven Virtues' by Pieter Bruegel 1559 and is a common design in the 15th and 16th centuries. It has a draw string bag that is held closed with a button flap and hangs from a belt loop. The drawstrings have hand made beads on the ends. The belt loop and button flap are decorated with incised lines and stamped tooling.

It measures 9 x 11 inches (22x 28cm) when open.
Price: £45.00
