Ladies 17th century teardrop belt purse with tooling

Ladies 17th century teardrop belt purse with tooling
This purse is made from oak gall black goat and calf skin and is stitched by hand. The design for this purse comes from "The Doctor's Visit" by Jan Steen 1661 and is a typical 17th century style. It has a draw string fronted bag with a stiff calf leather back and belt loop. The bag is kept close with a drawstring that has hand made beads on the ends and is covered with a button flap. The belt loop and button flap are decorated with incised lines and stamped tooling.

It measures 12 x 7 inches (30 x 18cm).
