16th/17th century sword hanger

16th/17th century sword hanger
This sword hanger is made from oak gall black calf and cattle hide that has been dyed using period dyes and is made entirely by hand. The design for this hanger comes from a number of 16th and 17th century illustrations and surviving examples notably a surviving leather hanger in the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. It has cast bronze fittings with an adjustable waist belt and suspension strap and the suspension points can be moved to balance the sword correctly. It is highly decorated with incised lines and stamped tooling.

The hanger body is 10 1/2 inches (27cm) long and 8 inches (21cms) wide. The belt is 7/8 inch wide (22mm) and can be up to 60 inches (150cm) long.
Price: £285.00
