Actual description of all classes on earth, high and low, clergy and secular, all arts, crafts and trades, from the greatest to the smallest, also of their origin, invention and customs. By the widely renowned Hans Sachsen Very diligently described and put into rhymes, very useful and fun to read, and also with artistic figures, the likes of which no one has seen before.

The Book of Trades was first published in Frankfurt in 1568 as the result of cooperation between the poet and shoe maker Hans Sachsand and the artist Jost Amman. The book contains 132 texts, each illustrated with a woodcut, that describe the spiritual and secular hierarchy of the time as well as numerous trades and professions. It begins with the Pope and the Emperor and then describes a number of merchants and their various specializations. It then covers a multitude of trades and crafts including academics, leather workers, wood workers, metal workers, textile workers to name but a few. It then goes on to describe various military professions.

This edition is in Latin and has an additional 18 woodcuts that depict vairious military characters that don't appear in the German version.
