These belt wallets are made from vegetable tanned calf and goat skins that have been dyed using period dyes and they are made entirely by hand. The design is based on a number of 16th and 17th century illustrations and is a common design in that period. It is quite common to have a number of separate compartments in this style of pouch and the more elaborate version has two pouchlets on the front held closed with their own drawstrings. The more decorative versions have tooled designs on the front flap and a bound edge
They measure 8 inches wide and 7 inches long (20 x 18 cm).
