These wax tablet sets are based on a number of surviving 15th and 16th century examples and the construction is base on studies of surviving leather cases in the Victoria and Albert Museum. They are made from a number of different layers of leather which make a rigid case that protects the contents. They have moulded slots for the brass stylus and silk hanging cords and inside is a set of four hand made boxwood wax tablets.
The case is 2 1/2 inches (6cm) wide and 3 1/2 inches (8.5cm) long. The tablets are 2 inches (5cm) wide and 3 inches (7.5cm) long.
