The design for these sword hangers comes from a number of 16th and 17th century illustrations and surviving examples notably a surviving leather hanger in the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. They are made from vegetable tanned calf and cattle hide that have been dyed using period dyes and they are made entirely by hand. The metal fitting have been modelled on the surviving Leeds Armouries hanger fittings and are cast in bronze. The waist belt and suspension strap can be adjusted for length and the suspension points can be moved to ensure the sword can be carried in a stable way without swinging around in an uncontrolled way.
The hanger body is 10 1/2 inches (27cm) long and 8 inches (21cm) wide. The belt is 7/8 inch wide (22mm). The belts can be upto 60 inches long (150cm) and will be cut to fit.
