16th/17th century ladies draw string purse with a gusset, two side pockets and piped seams

This purse is made from oak gall black goat skin with tan piping and a gusset and is stitched by hand. The design is based on a figure in "The Wedding Dance In The Open Air" by Pieter Bruegel painted in 1556 and was a common style in the 16th and 17th centuries. It hangs from a leather cord and the top is held closed by two leather draw strings which have hand made beads on the ends.

It measures 7 x 8 inches (18 x 20cm) when open.
Price: £95.00
